Operation: Ruck the Bayou

This event takes place at Saint Arnold Brewery in Houston, Texas. The event supports the Houston chapter of The Joshua Chamberlain Society. This organization is a charity that provides long-term support to severely injured veterans and to the children of veterans who lost their lives.

Multiple event formats are available:

  • 5K Run
  • 5K Ruck
  • 10K Run
  • 10K Ruck
  • Kids/Family K + Mini-Ruck

A "ruck" involves walking, hiking, or running with a weighted backpack, or rucksack. While there is no mandatory weight requirement to participate, there is an award category for those who meet a suggested weight goal: 15 lbs for women and 25 lbs for men. Awards are given for the first to third place overall finishers in each event category and for the heaviest ruck weight carried.

The event has a course closure time, after which the route is unsupported. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
