Operation Ruck the Bayou returns to Saint Arnold Brewery in Houston in May 2026. Choose from running or rucking (weighted backpack) events over 5K or 10K distances, plus a kids' race. The event supports The Joshua Chamberlain Society's work with veterans.

Event Overview

Operation Ruck the Bayou is scheduled for May 16, 2026. It will take place at Saint Arnold Brewery in Houston, Texas, with the address 2000 Lyons Ave, Houston, TX 77020. This is the second annual edition of the event. It supports the Houston Chapter of The Joshua Chamberlain Society, a charity providing long-term support to severely wounded veterans and children of veterans who died in service.

What is Rucking?

A "ruck" involves walking, hiking, or running with a weighted backpack (rucksack). While there is no mandatory weight requirement for participation, there are suggested weight goals for those competing for awards: 15 lbs for women and 25 lbs for men. The fastest three ruckers who meet or exceed these weight goals will receive an award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
