About the race
The One by the Canal is a point to point trail half marathon on 8 November 2026 that follows the Grand Union Canal from Cowley Recreation Ground to Cassiobury Park in Watford. The route runs along canal towpaths, country trails and woodland paths and is waymarked and marshalled.
The event includes professional chip timing and a sustainable wooden finisher medal. Entries list a single distance, the Half Marathon, with an entry fee shown as £35 and an age minimum of 17. An interactive course map is provided by the organiser and pre-race information is emailed to registered participants one week before the event.
There are four water stations on the route, approximately every 5 km, with water served in cups; additional water is available in the event village for refilling bottles. Race facilities include medical cover, a bag drop, an on-site food caterer, portable toilets in the event village and event photography that is usually available within 24 hours. There are no dedicated changing rooms or showers.
A coach transfer from the finish to the start is offered for participants who pre-book and park at the finish beforehand; places must be reserved in advance and no transport is provided after the event. Registration on the day might be available. Spectators are permitted at the start, finish and along the route. Assistance dogs may be permitted with prior approval; privately owned dogs, buggies and wheelchairs are not suitable for this event due to the terrain.
