The Oktoberfest 5K Challenge
The Oktoberfest 5K Challenge takes place on October 3, 2026, at Munson’s in Columbus, Mississippi. The event includes two themed 5K races that benefit the YMCA and provide official race T-shirts for registered participants.
The Family Donut 5K features a donut station at each mile. Children ages 12 and under may register free; registration for participants ages 13 and older is $30. Registered participants receive an official race T-shirt. Trophies are awarded to the top girl and top boy finishers.
The Beer Challenge 5K is offered as an individual entry and as a three person relay. Individual registration is $40. Relay registration is $32 per person. Each runner must finish a beer at designated stations while standing at the station; running while drinking is not permitted. Relay legs require the first runner to finish a beer at the station before beginning, then tag the next teammate who must finish their beer before leaving the station. All Beer Challenge participants must be at least 21 years old and present a valid photo ID at check-in. Trophies are awarded to the top male and female individual finishers and to each member of the winning relay team.
The organizer advises participants to drink responsibly and to arrange safe transportation after the race. Registration opens August 3, 2026, and registering by September 23 guarantees an official race T-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
