Ohio's Backyard Ultra
Ohio's Backyard Ultra is a Backyard Ultra format race held at McChesney Ridge Athletic Club in Lucasville, Ohio. The event uses repeated one-hour loops measured at 4.1667 miles; the loop is set as two laps of roughly 2.08 miles. Races continue in successive one-hour cycles until a single runner completes a loop on their own and is declared the Last Person Standing. All other finishers are recorded as Did Not Finish and receive a DNF coin.
The event field is limited to 115 runners. Registration includes an early-consideration window and a general registration opening in November; five additional elite spots may be assigned at the race director's discretion. A private waitlist operates after capacity is reached and moves as entrants withdraw. Refunds are offered on a sliding scale based on days before the race: 100 percent 45 or more days out, 50 percent 20 to 44 days out, and no refund 0 to 19 days out. No rollovers or transfers are permitted.
Course details: the day loop is double-track trail, gravel, grass, and dirt with about 450 to 475 feet of elevation gain and no pavement. The night section uses an out-and-back road segment with about 150 feet of gain and includes pavement. Runners must provide their own aid; one crew member per runner is allowed. Amenities include porta-potties near the start area, water, coffee, some hot food, a t-shirt for entrants, camping on site, and a fire ring.
