Event
Ohio's Backyard Ultra takes place on March 21, 2026 at McChesney Ridge Athletic Club in Lucasville, Ohio. The event follows the Backyard Ultra "Last Person Standing" format and is part of the Road to Big’s series as a Bronze Ticket race for the 2025-2026 cycle. The field capacity is 110 runners, with five additional elite-entry spots reserved at the race director's discretion. The published registration price tiers are $131.30 and $141.95. The race offers camping on site and space for crew near the start/finish area.
Course and format
The event uses a repeated-loop Backyard Ultra format. Each loop is measured at 4.1667 miles. The day layout is built from two loops of 2.08 miles and includes between 450 and 475 feet of elevation gain. The day course is a mix of double-track trail, gravel, grass, and dirt with no pavement. The night course is an out-and-back of the same measured distance with a gradual 150 feet of elevation gain and includes a stretch of pavement. Runners must be at the start corral when the next loop begins to continue. Crews are limited to one person per runner. Runners must provide their own aid; a small area is available next to the start/finish for personal items. Porta-potties are located just after the start line. Hot food, water, and coffee are provided; alcohol is permitted.
