28. VVO Oberelbe-Marathon
The Oberelbe-Marathon is a multi-distance running event that concludes at the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion. Participants can choose from a variety of competitive and recreational distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10 km run
- 5 km run
- 2.7 km Minimarathon (for ages 7 and up)
- 400m Bambini run (limited to 250 participants)
The event features a two-day marathon fair held at the BallsportARENA Dresden, where participants collect their start numbers. These start numbers include an integrated transponder for timekeeping and serve as a VVO combination ticket, allowing free travel within the Oberelbe transport network for most distances.
The course is supported by ten music groups and ten refreshment stations offering food and drinks. Finishers receive a medal across all distances and can access a personal finisher video online after the event. Immediate certificates are available in the finish area. For participants in the longer distances, a free portion of pasta and non-alcoholic beverages are provided at the finish. A unique service is offered for marathon companions, who can follow the route from Konigstein to Dresden on a chartered historic paddle steamer.
