Race Overview
The Races for the Oasis 5K & Fun Run is an inaugural event held at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, located within Druid Hill Park. This event supports The Urban Oasis, a community-focused social and cultural hub in West Baltimore. Participants follow a course that moves through the zoo exhibits, providing a unique environment for both runners and walkers.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed 3.11 mile course consisting of two laps through the zoo.
- 1M Fun Run/Walk: An untimed 1 mile event consisting of a single lap.
- Kids 5K and 1M: Dedicated categories for children aged 6-13 and children 5 and under.
- Virtual 5K: A remote option for those unable to attend the physical location.
The 5K race features professional RFID chip timing. The 1 mile and children's categories are untimed. Adult participants in the 5K and 1M distances receive a race t-shirt. For children, shirts are available for purchase during the registration process.
Venue and Amenities
The race starts near the zoo entrance, with packet pickup located at the Schafer Pavilion. Complimentary parking is provided at the Maryland Zoo entrance, where attendants assist with vehicle placement.
The first 250 registered participants receive a complimentary bracelet for admission to the zoo, valid for the day of the race once the event has concluded.
