2026 NZ Road Relays
The 2026 NZ Road Relays will take place in Halcombe on 3 October. Owairaka Athletics is assembling squads for a road relay event run in an Ekiden style, where team members complete successive legs and exchange a baton on a road circuit.
Teams are formed of six, seven or eight runners. Planned age categories include U18 or U20 boys and possibly girls, Senior Men and Women (20 to 34 years), Masters Men and Women (35 to 49 years), and Masters Men 50s (50 years and over). Social teams have taken part in past events.
Organisers are also seeking a team of volunteers to assist with event organisation. The format involves multiple baton changes and a team-oriented race structure over a road course in the Manawatu-Wanganui region. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
