Nova Scotia Marathon
The Annual Nova Scotia Marathon celebrates its 55th year in Barrington Passage. The course travels through a rural setting along the southwest shore of the province, featuring coastal views and ocean breezes. The route is primarily flat with some rolling hills on secondary roads.
The event offers several distances for participants:
- Marathon (42.2 km)
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 10 km
- 6 km
- Youth Runs (350m and 700m)
The marathon serves as a Boston Qualifier and is part of the Run Nova Scotia Road Race Series. Due to narrow road shoulders and blind crests, strollers and pets are prohibited on the race routes.
Aid stations providing water and Gatorade are located approximately every 3 kilometres. Facilities at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena include change rooms, washrooms, and showers. A shuttle service is available to transport runners from the finish line back to the recreation complex. The course remains open with volunteer support and timing services for a total of six hours. On-site camping for both tents and RVs is available at the Sherose Island registration area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
