Nova Scotia Marathon
The Municipality of Barrington hosts the race on the southwest shore of Nova Scotia, along a rural secondary road with coastal views. The route has some rolling hills but is generally flat. Ropes with marked spacing are used on course to assist with physical distancing.
The event offers multiple race distances:
- Full marathon (42.2 km)
- Half marathon (21.1 km)
- 10 km
- 6 km
The full marathon has been measured and is certified; it serves as a Boston qualifying marathon. The half marathon is also measured and listed as certified. The 10 km and 6 km distances are not certified measured distances.
Support and facilities include the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena for race kit pick up and change facilities. Aid stations are located at approximately every 3 kilometres and provide water and Gatorade; first aid is available. A shuttle service is planned to return runners from the finish area to the arena. On-site camping (Sea Me Camp) offers tent and RV sites on the Sherose Island Recreation Complex grounds. Youth runs (350 m and 700 m) for children up to age 12 are offered as non timed events and include a youth shirt and finisher medal. Strollers and pets are prohibited on the race route.
