Northfield Rotary Turkey Trot
The Northfield Rotary Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving Day event held in Northfield, Minnesota. Now in its 25th year, this community gathering serves as a fundraiser for the local Rotary Club, supporting international initiatives such as polio eradication and youth exchange programs, as well as various local service projects.
The event features a chip-timed race that takes place in the scenic northeast neighborhoods of the town. Participants can choose to complete the course as a run or a walk. The route begins at the Carleton College Weitz Center and winds north to south along Spring Creek Road before returning toward the center via Woodley, Seventh Street, Winona, and Third.
Distances available at the event include:
- 5 km run/walk
The event is designed to be inclusive of families and pets. Children in strollers are welcome to participate alongside their parents, and runners may bring dogs provided they remain on a leash. For those unable to attend in person, a "free-range" option is available, allowing participants to complete their own 5k at a location of their choice and share their experience through photos or video.
Recognition is given to the top male and female finishers. Those who register by the early November deadline are guaranteed a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt. On-site registration and check-in are available at the start location on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
