Northfield Rotary Turkey Trot
The Northfield Rotary Turkey Trot is a chip timed 5K run or walk held on Thanksgiving Day and organized by the Rotary Club of Northfield. The event marks its 25th year and is based at the Weitz Center, Carleton College, 320 Third Street East, Northfield, MN.
The course winds through the northeast section of town, traveling north to south along Spring Creek Road and returning toward the Weitz Center via Woodley, Seventh Street, Winona and Third Street.
Registration is open online and same day in person at the Weitz Center. The entry fee is $30. Registrations received before Friday, Nov. 7 are guaranteed a commemorative long sleeve 25th anniversary T shirt; registrations remain open until race morning but shirts are available only while supplies last. To limit congestion, shirts for registered runners and teams are distributed on the Wednesday evening before the event; teams may use a shared team name and designate a captain to pick up shirts for the group.
The event is chip timed and recognition is given to the top male and female finishers. It is stroller friendly and dog friendly; all dogs must be on a leash and children in strollers are welcome. A free range option allows participants who are not in town to stage a local 5K and upload a photo or video. Funds raised support Rotary youth exchange, polio eradication and other local and international service projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
