About the race
The Northfield Rotary Turkey Trot is the 25th annual chip timed 5K run and walk held as a Thanksgiving tradition in Northfield. The event starts and finishes at the Carleton College Weitz Center (320 Third Street East) and follows a neighborhood route that goes north to south along Spring Creek Road and returns toward the Weitz Center along Woodley, Seventh Street, Winona and Third.
Registration is open online; in-person registration is also available at the Weitz Center on race day. The entry fee is $30. Participants who register before Friday, November 7 are guaranteed a commemorative long-sleeve 25th anniversary Turkey Trot T-shirt; shirts are provided while supplies last. To reduce congestion, registered teams and individuals can pick up shirts at a scheduled distribution the evening before the race, and the registration form includes a field for a team name and a designated team captain for shirt pickup.
The race is chip timed and awards recognition to the top male and top female finishers. Families are welcome: kids in strollers may ride along and the event is dog friendly provided dogs are kept on a leash. There is a “free range” option for participants who run a local 5K on Thanksgiving and upload a photo or video to show support.
