Northfield Rotary Turkey Trot
The Northfield Rotary Turkey Trot is an annual, chip-timed 5K run or walk held on Thanksgiving Day. The event begins at the Carleton College Weitz Center (320 Third Street East) and follows a course through Northfield’s northeast neighborhoods, running north to south along Spring Creek Road and returning toward the Weitz Center via Woodley, Seventh Street, Winona and Third.
The entry fee for the event is $30. Registrations received before Friday, November 7 are guaranteed a commemorative long-sleeve Turkey Trot T-shirt; entries remain open until race morning but shirts are available only while supplies last. To reduce congestion, organizers distribute shirts in advance to registered teams and individuals; registration includes a field for a team name and a team captain may pick up shirts for the group.
Runners and walkers may register online or in person on race day. The event is stroller- and dog-friendly; dogs must be on a leash and children in strollers may ride with parents. A “free-range” option allows people not in town to complete a 5K on their own and upload a photo or video of their effort.
The event raises funds for Rotary service work, including the club’s youth exchange program and polio eradication efforts, and provides recognition for top male and female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
