About the race
The North West Coastal Challenge takes place in the seaside village of Dunfanaghy and its surrounding area, with routes that run close to the Atlantic coast. The 2026 event introduces the Lady Isabella trail run on the grounds of Ards Friary, which passes through a tree canopy and along the beach near the metal boat warning icon known as Ards.
There are two race options offered:
- 54 km Challenge: 5.5 km run, 33 km cycle, 2.5 km run, 13 km cycle.
- 34 km Sprint: 5.5 km run, 28.5 km cycle.
This year’s format does not include a kayak section. The event is organised as a fundraiser for Youth Development of underage players in Naomh Micheál. Course details note mixed terrain that includes trail sections around the friary and coastal pathways. Competitor information and rules are provided separately by the organisers.
The description above summarises the main route options and the notable addition of the Lady Isabella trail. Practical details such as registration procedures, exact course maps, and logistical information are managed by the event organisers and published through their official channels.
