North Texas Ultra
The North Texas Ultra is a multi-distance trail event held at Fort Richardson State Park, North Park Unit, on the Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway. The course follows a 15.5 mile out and back loop beginning and ending at the North Park Unit. The trail is open and surfaced with soft fine gravel.
Distances include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 25K
- 50K
- 52 mile
- 100K
- 25K ruck
Elevation change is about 550 ft of gain and loss per 15.5 mile loop. Several aid stations are located on course, including a main start/finish station at mile 15.5, Mandy's at mile 4.4/11.1, and a Quarry water station at mile 7.8 with no road access. Aid stations offer hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice. Drop bag transport to the Twin Lake aid station is available.
All participants must carry a water-carrying system because this is a no-cup race. For the 100K and 52 mile distances a headlamp and an emergency blanket are required. Ruck entrants must meet weight requirements: 30 lb if over 150 lbs body weight, 20 lb if under 150 lbs; a ruck sack or vest is allowed.
Camping and lodging options are near the park; Bridgeport is about 30 minutes away with additional hotel options. The event is part of the Texas Ultra Series and registration is open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
