About the race
The News and Sentinel Half Marathon is a road running event held in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on August 21, 2027. The course leaves downtown, follows rolling roads through Wood County, and returns to the commercial area to finish on Market Street near the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival Parade. The event includes both a half marathon and a shorter community race.

Minimum age for the half marathon is 15. All half marathon participants receive a finisher medal and a race shirt. The event offers prize money across multiple divisions, including open run awards of $1,000 for first, $750 for second, and $500 for third; masters and grandmasters awards; senior grandmasters awards; and age-category awards. Walk divisions also carry awards.
Race packet pickup, registration and the runners expo are held at the Parkersburg Municipal Building the day before the race, with additional packet pickup available on race morning; there is no race day registration. A pre race pasta dinner is held at St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall, with dinner included for half marathon entrants and tickets available at the door for guests and two mile participants; gluten free pasta is available by request. A post race pizza luncheon is provided for half marathon participants who present their race number. The half marathon has 16 aid stations serving water and Gatorade, with WVU Medicine personnel positioned at various course locations.
