Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon and Two Mile Race
The Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon and Two Mile Race takes place in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The event features multiple distance options for both runners and walkers:
- Half Marathon Run (21 km)
- Half Marathon Competitive Walk (21 km)
- 2 Mile Run
- 2 Mile Competitive Walk
The Half Marathon serves as the RRCA WV State Championship. The course features rolling terrain that leads participants from the downtown area into the scenic surroundings of West Virginia before returning to the city's commercial district. The race concludes on Market Street, where crowds gather ahead of the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival Parade. Those participating in the Half Marathon receive a tech shirt, a finisher medal, and access to both a pre-race pasta dinner and a post-race pizza luncheon.
The 2 Mile Race is also recognized as an RRCA West Virginia Championship. This course begins at the Towne Square Parking Garage and finishes at Sixth and Market streets. Participants in the 2-mile events can form company, family, or school teams, where the four fastest members contribute to a team score. All 2 Mile participants receive a T-shirt.
Additional event amenities include packet pickup at the Parkersburg Municipal Building and various meal options at the St. Francis Xavier Parish Center. While meals are included for Half Marathon entrants, 2 Mile participants and guests may purchase tickets for the pasta dinner and pizza lunch separately.
