Event overview
The New Year's Day 10K Race and 3K Fun Run take place in Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, with the next edition listed for 01/01/2026. The event is organised by Serpentine Running & Triathlon Club volunteers and uses traffic-free park paths. Distances offered include:

Entry is limited to a total capacity of 650 runners and must be booked in advance. All finishers receive a medal and finish-line goodies. The 10K awards trophies and shopping vouchers to the top three male and female finishers and to top V50 finishers; voucher values include £150, £100 and £50 for 1st to 3rd in the open categories, with £50 vouchers for V50 places. Only one trophy and voucher will be issued per runner. The event village is located on the south side of the Serpentine.
Course, facilities and rules
The 10K route includes two short laps in Kensington Gardens before returning to Hyde Park and finishing at the Old Football Pitches on the south side of the Serpentine. The course passes landmarks such as Kensington Palace, the Italian Gardens and the Henry Moore statue. The 3K route is also available in the event maps.
Number collection is done on race morning. Toilet facilities and bag drop will be available; there are no changing rooms. Water stations will be provided. The event has a two-hour cut-off for completion and a minimum age of 16 for the 10K. No entries are available on the day. The use of personal stereos, headphones or mobile phones during the race is not permitted. Baby buggies, dogs, walking poles and lead/assistance bikes are not allowed.
