New Year's Day 10K Race & 3K Fun Run
The New Year's Day 10K Race and 3K Fun Run take place on Friday 1 January 2027 in Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, London. The event is organised by volunteers from Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club and has a combined capacity of 650 participants. The course uses traffic-free park paths.
Distances
- 10K Race: two short laps in Kensington Gardens, finishing on the Serpentine south side.
- 3K Fun Run: shorter route within the parks, approximately 3 kilometres.
The 10K route passes landmarks such as Kensington Palace, the Italian Gardens, the Henry Moore statue and George Watt's Physical Energy statue. Race numbers are collected on the morning of the event and are allocated individually; unauthorised transfer of numbers may lead to disqualification.
Facilities include chip timing for the 10K, bag drop near the start and finish, water stations on the 10K course and at the finish, toilet facilities within Hyde Park, and finishers' medals and refreshments. There are no changing rooms or showers.
Rules and participant notes state a minimum age of 15 years for the 10K on race day, headphones and personal audio devices are not permitted, and baby buggies, dogs, walking poles and lead bicycles are not allowed. Participants must follow marshal instructions and respect other park users.
The race has run in London since the mid-1980s and has been organised by Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club since 1992. Public transport is advised as parking is limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
