Event overview

The Serpentine Running & Triathlon Club stages a New Year’s Day running event on 1 January 2026 at The Old Football Pitches, Hyde Park, London SW7 1SG (what3words: prep.frost.runs). The programme includes two distances:

  • 10K
  • 3K

Entries must be booked in advance because the event capacity is 650 runners under the UK licence (#30179). The minimum age for the 10K is 16 on race day. Online entries close once capacity is reached. Race packs are collected on the morning of the event and there is a mandatory pre-race briefing for 10K entrants. Entry prices range from about £7 to £30.

Course, facilities and rules

The 10K course includes two short laps in Kensington Gardens before returning to Hyde Park and finishing on the south side of the Serpentine at The Old Football Pitches. The route passes landmarks including Kensington Palace, the Italian Gardens and the Henry Moore statue. The 3K route is available in the event maps.

All finishers receive a medal, water and finish-line goodies. The top three male and female finishers in the 10K receive trophies and shopping vouchers (£150, £100, £50). Top three V50 finishers receive vouchers (£50 each). Bag drop and water stations will be provided. Toilet facilities are available but there are no changing rooms; nearest toilets are at the Serpentine Lido and Serpentine Bar & Kitchen. Use of personal stereos, headphones or mobile phones during the race is not permitted. Baby buggies, dogs, walking poles and lead/assistance bikes are not allowed.
