New Beginnings Turkey Trot 5K
The New Beginnings Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day 5K event held in Sheridan, Michigan at the Sheridan Community Center on 11/26/2026. Proceeds support the New Beginnings Resale Shoppe, whose mission is to instill hope, provide support, and mentor individuals with special needs.
The event accommodates both runners and walkers with separate starts. Awards consisting of a medal and pumpkin pie are given to the first male and first female in each age group: ages 0 to 15, 16 to 40, and 41 and over. The first person to cross the finish line receives the title "Top Turkey."
The course meets at the Sheridan Community Center, runs east out of town along Beardsley Road to a measured turnaround and returns to the Community Center to complete 5K.
Registration opens 9/5/2026 and closes 11/25/2026. Entry fees before Thanksgiving are $5 for ages 1 to 12 and $20 for ages 13 and older. Race day registration increases to $25. There are no event T shirts this year; special giveaways and door prizes will be available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
