Big Butts Trail Run : Jackson, MS
Big Butts is a trail-running event held at the Mississippi College Choctaw Trails pavilion in Jackson, MS on Saturday, July 18, 2026. The event features looped trail running on a course made up of cross country trails and Butts Park single track, with 7.75 mile loops and about 170 feet of elevation gain per loop. The majority of the course is shaded and the trail is described as not technical with a few small hills; late July heat and humidity in Mississippi are noted as significant environmental factors.

There are two aid stations providing water, Tailwind sports drink, and food. Relay teams may have only one member on course at a time and may rotate as desired within the event time limit. Runners may change from the 100K to 50K during the race but such changes make them ineligible for awards; dropping to the 25K is not allowed. Awards are given to the top three males and females in each individual race and the top relay team; there are no finisher medals. Registration closes on July 15 with no race-day registration or packet-pickup registration. Packet pickup is available at Buffalo Peak Outfitters and at the start area on race morning.
