Trail Running in Murrysville
The Murrysville Monster Trail Races take place in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, and traverse two local parks: Duff Park and Pleasant Valley Park. The event offers participants the opportunity to run through the natural landscapes of Western Pennsylvania on a course that includes various natural features and terrain changes.
The course primarily consists of single track trails. Runners encounter several environmental factors such as water crossings and multiple log and tree obstacles. While the start of the race features flat sections, the overall route includes significant elevation changes. For example, the 10K distance includes approximately 800 feet of elevation gain.
This event is part of the GCXC Max Vert Challenge, a series of three summer trail races. It is also designated as a Trail Sisters Approved event, which means it follows specific standards such as equal awards for podium finishers, women-specific apparel, and the provision of menstrual products at aid stations.
