Courses and logistics

Both the marathon and half marathon courses have USATF certification. Aid stations are placed at roughly two mile intervals and provide water, electrolyte drink (Nuun), gels, porta-potties and basic first aid; medical personnel are on course and at the finish. There is a 6 hour time limit for the marathon and a 4 hour time limit for the half marathon. Participants who need extra time may start one hour early under self-supported conditions; early starters have specific disqualification rules if they finish below stated times. Shuttle service to the starts runs from Orting (school parking), finish-line parking at the McMillin Trailhead is limited, and the Mud Mountain Dam Park lot is closed and gated during the event. Race registration includes a finisher medal and race shirts when ordered by the published cutoff; a portion of proceeds supports the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County. Awards are age-group ribbons for the top five in standard age brackets and are available at the results tent. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
