MTC Shamrock
MTC Shamrock is a 50 mile ultra marathon scheduled for 10 May 2027. It forms Day 4 of the MTC MizMal, a fourteen day end-to-end series across Ireland, and much of the route follows the MizMal route as provided by Wild Atlantic Cycling. The race concludes at Limerick City Hotel and is the first edition of this event.
Entrant numbers are limited to 20 race-only places plus an additional allowance of 20 for MizMal competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. All entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day. The event uses preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this threshold may be withdrawn.
Finishers receive a bespoke Shamrock medal; male and female champions will also receive bespoke trophies. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-vis jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All payments are non refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is available at checkout and a defer option exists up to four weeks before the race for a fee.
Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and emailed about four weeks before the race. Competitors are issued tracking devices with SOS capability and must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, waterproof map case, basic first aid and an emergency food pack. The race is cup-free so competitors must supply a reusable cup. The course total ascent is 1,550 ft with 1,616 ft of descent. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
