Event overview
MTC Shamrock is a single-day ultra running event held on 11 May 2026. The race distance is 50 miles and it is the fourth day of the MTC MizMal® fourteen-day end-to-end of Ireland. The event is described as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. This is the first edition of the MTC Shamrock.
Route, entry and rules
The route is listed as concluding at Limerick City Hotel; start locations are given in event information (Cliff House Hotel, Ballybunion is mentioned and a start location is also listed as Killarney Court Hotel). Total ascent is about 1,550 ft and total descent about 1,616 ft, with a peak near 354 ft. Competitor numbers are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 for MizMal® entrants for a maximum field of 40.
Organisers require a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this threshold may be withdrawn. The event is cup-free and entrants must carry mandatory kit, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food pack (two chocolate bars) and a basic first aid kit. Tracking devices with SOS function are provided to entrants. All entries are non-refundable; a defer option is available for a fee.
