MTC SELKIE

MTC SELKIE is a single-day ultra event that forms Day 8 of the Mount to Coast SCOTIA nine day end to end series. The published total distance is 42 miles, starting at the Eagle Hotel in Dornoch and finishing at Inver Caravan Park, Dunbeath. Entry is limited to 20 competitors with an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA participants, giving a maximum field of 40. This is the first edition of the event and finishers receive a SELKIE medal; male and female champions receive bespoke trophies.

The race operates preset cut offs based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement will be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants and are emailed four weeks before the event. The organiser issues tracking devices with live tracking and an SOS function. The event is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup.

All payments are non refundable. Entry options published are a standard fee of £90.00 and a plus package at £155.00 that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. Competitors must meet the event age requirement of 20 years or over and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
