MTC GLAISTIG
The MTC GLAISTIG is a single day ultra running event held on 28 May 2028 that covers about 31.3 miles from Innerleithen to Travelodge Edinburgh Airport. It serves as Day 2 of the nine day Mount to Coast Scotia end to end challenge, so GLAISTIG competitors may run alongside other Scotia participants.
The route begins at the Traquair Arms Hotel and passes through Peebles, West Linton and Currie before finishing at Edinburgh Airport. Total reported ascent is about 2,793 ft and total descent about 3,138 ft. The organiser limits general entries to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 places for Scotia competitors for a maximum of 40 runners.
There are preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; runners who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and tracking devices with SOS are supplied so progress can be monitored in real time. The event is cup free so competitors should bring a reusable cup.
Mandatory kit requirements include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid items. All finishers receive a GLAISTIG medal and male and female champions are awarded trophies, currently still in design. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
