Event overview
The MTC Boggle is a single-day ultra running event held as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The route distance is approximately 39 miles (route data lists 39.4 miles). The race is also Day 8 of the MTC ALBION thirteen-day end-to-end of England, so Boggle competitors will run alongside Albion entrants. Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors, with an additional allowance of 20 Albion competitors for a maximum field of 40. All finishers receive a bespoke Boggle medal; male and female champions also receive trophies.
Route, logistics and rules
The course follows the same route used by the MTC JOGLE event, with reduced daily distances, starting at The Tudor House Hotel (GL20 5BH) and finishing at Travelodge Bristol Filton (BS34 5GN). There are pre-set check points on route (example locations at about 8.8, 18.2, 28.5 and finish miles). Organisers provide maps and GPX files to entrants four weeks before the event and issue tracking devices with SOS buttons for real-time monitoring.
Competitors must meet a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph or they will be withdrawn. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Check-point food examples include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water; the event is cup-free so entrants must bring a reusable cup. Entry fees and non-refundable payment terms apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
