The Mountaineer 5K takes place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Chandler, Arizona at Summit Academy Junior High School, 1550 W Summit Place, 85224. The race is organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization and benefits Summit Academy Mountaineers. The distance is 5 km. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers; pets are not allowed.
Race logistics
Registration is listed at $25 through January 18, 2026, with the price increasing afterward. To be guaranteed a shirt and medal, registrants should sign up by February 28. Packet pickup is offered in front of Summit Academy Junior High on Friday, March 27 (2:30pm-6:00pm) or on race morning beginning at 6:30am. The course starts at the junior high track, includes one loop around the track, continues along the canal for the majority of the distance, and finishes back at the junior high track. There are water stations along the course. The event uses chip timing with real-time results, provides post-race food and drinks at a finish line festival, and presents overall and age-group awards made by students in the Dobson High School Ceramics Department. Roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed on the run or walk courses. The event runs rain or shine; there are no refunds or transfers due to weather.
