Event details
The Mountaineer 5K is a 5-kilometer community race on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Summit Academy Junior High School, 1550 W Summit Place, Chandler, AZ 85224. The race is organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization and benefits Summit Academy Mountaineers. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers; pets are not allowed. Registration fees start at $25 and increase on later dates. Registration includes a finisher medal and a t-shirt; to be guaranteed a shirt and medal, registrants must sign up by February 28. The race is chip timed with real-time results.
Logistics and race information
The course begins at the Summit Academy junior high track, includes one loop on the track, continues onto the canal for the majority of the distance, and finishes back at the junior high track. There are water stations along the course. Packet pickup is available in front of Summit Academy Junior High on Friday, March 27 (2:30pm-6:00pm) or on race morning starting at 6:30am. Post-race food and drinks will be available at a finish line festival. Overall and age-group awards are presented and are custom made by students in the Dobson High School Ceramics Department. Roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed on the run or walk courses. The event runs rain or shine; there are no refunds or transfers due to weather.
