Mountaineer 5K at Summit Academy Junior High
The Mountaineer 5K is a 5-kilometer race organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization in Chandler, Arizona. The course begins with a loop on the Summit Academy Junior High track, continues mostly along the canal, and finishes back at the junior high track.
The event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers; pets are not allowed. It benefits the Summit Academy Mountaineers and aims to raise health and fitness awareness. Registration includes a finishers medal and a t-shirt; to be guaranteed a shirt and medal, registration should be completed by February 28. The published registration fee is $20.27.
Race services include on-course water stations, chip timing with real time results, and a finish line festival with post-race food and drinks. Overall and age group awards are presented, with awards custom made by students in the Dobson High School Ceramics Department. Age group categories range from 6 and under through 75 and up.
Packet pick up is available the day before at the school and on race morning. Race rules note that roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed on the course. The event runs regardless of weather and race-related items will not be mailed to non-attendees; refunds are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
