Event Overview
The Mountaineer 5K is a 5-kilometer race organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization. It is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Summit Academy Junior High School in Chandler, Arizona. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and participants with strollers, but does not allow pets. The proceeds benefit the Summit Academy Mountaineers.
Course Details
The race starts at the Summit Academy Junior High Track. Participants will run one lap around the track before proceeding onto a canal path, where the majority of the course is located, and will finish back at the track.
Registration and Amenities
Registration fees increase over time. A finisher's medal and a t-shirt are included with registration, with a guarantee for those who register by February 28, 2026. The event is chip-timed with real-time results. Water stations are located along the course, and post-race food and drinks are provided.
Awards
Overall and age group awards are presented. The awards are custom-made by students from the Dobson High School Ceramics Department. An awards ceremony is held. Age groups range from 6 and under to 75 and up.
Logistics
Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at two locations: in front of Summit Academy Junior High School and at a Habit Burger restaurant in Tempe. Race-day packet pickup starts at 6:30 AM. Parking is available in the Desert Oasis parking lot, the Summit Academy parking lot, or on permitted streets.
