Mountaineer 5K
The Mountaineer 5K is a five-kilometer race taking place on March 20, 2027, at Summit Academy Junior High School in Chandler, AZ. The event is organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization and benefits the Summit Academy Mountaineers.
The event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers but does not allow pets. Registration includes a finisher medal and a participant t-shirt; to guarantee a shirt and medal registrants must sign up by February 28. The course is chip timed with real time results and includes water stations along the route.
Awards are given both overall and by age group, with trophies custom made by students in the Dobson High School Ceramics Department. Age-group categories run from 6 and under through 75 and up. An awards ceremony and a finish line festival with post-race food and drinks follow the race.
The course begins with a loop on the junior high track, continues mostly along the canal, and finishes back at the junior high track. Packet pickup is offered the day before at the school and on race morning at the venue. Roller blades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed on the course. The event runs rain or shine; race-related items will not be mailed to nonattendees and refunds are not given for no-shows or weather-related issues. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
