Event overview
The Mountaineer 5K takes place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Summit Academy Junior High School, 1550 W Summit Place, Chandler, AZ 85224. The race is organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization and benefits Summit Academy Mountaineers while aiming to raise health and fitness awareness. The event distance is 5 km. Runners, walkers, and strollers are allowed; pets are not permitted.
Race details
The course starts at the Summit Academy junior high track, includes one loop around the track, follows the canal for the majority of the distance, and finishes at the junior high track. Water stations are provided along the course. Timing is chip timed with real time results. Overall and age group awards are custom made by students in the Dobson High School Ceramics Department; the awards ceremony begins at 9:00 AM. Post-race food and drinks are available at a finish line festival. No roller blades, skateboards, or motorized devices are allowed on the run or walk courses. The event runs rain or shine; refunds or transfers are not provided for weather.
Registration and logistics
Early registration fees listed include $25 through January 18, 2026 and $35 from January 19 through February 18, 2026; prices increase after January 18, 2026. Registered participants receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt; to be guaranteed a shirt and medal register by February 28. Packet pickup is available Friday 3/27 (2:30 PM - 6:00 PM) in front of the school or on race morning starting at 6:30 AM. Parking is available at the Desert Oasis lot, Summit Academy lot, or on nearby streets where permitted. Sponsors support the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
