Mountaineer 5K
The Mountaineer 5K is a 5-kilometer community road race organized by the Summit Academy Parent Teacher Organization. It takes place at Summit Academy Junior High School in Chandler, Arizona (1550 W Summit Place, Chandler 85224) on March 28, 2026.
The event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers; pets are not allowed. Proceeds benefit Summit Academy Mountaineers and the event is presented with the goal of raising health and fitness awareness.
Registration fees vary by date and range from $25 to $50. Registration includes a finisher medal and a t-shirt; to be guaranteed a shirt and medal, registration must be completed by February 28. Race-related items will not be mailed to entrants who do not attend and no refunds will be given.
The course begins at the junior high track with one loop around the track, continues along the canal for the majority of the distance, and finishes back at the junior high track. Water stations are provided along the course. Chip timing with real time results will be used.
Awards include overall and age group prizes that are custom made by students in the Dobson High School Ceramics Department. Packet pickup is available the day before in front of the school and on the morning of the race. Event rules state no roller blades, skateboards, or motorized devices on the course and the event proceeds rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
