Mountain Goat Trail Race
The Mountain Goat Trail Race is held at Merck Forest and Farmland Center in Rupert, Vermont on September 20, 2026. The main trail race is an 8.5 mile loop of forest trails and forest roads that starts and finishes at the Sap House and includes about 1,800 ft of climbing. Two aid stations are placed on course.
Distances:
- 8.5 miles loop with approximately 1,800 ft of climbing
- 0.75 mile kids loop around the farm
The main route climbs from the Sap House up to a ski trail and continues to the summit of Mt Antone, then descends via Masters Mtn Trail to the Hidden Valley Road junction. The course continues east past Clark Hollow, climbs a forest road to the Glen, and returns downhill to the farm and Sap House. Aid stations at the Glen and at the Masters Mtn Trail and Hidden Valley Road junction will offer light snacks, fruit, Skratch and water.
Packet pick-up is available the day before at the Mountain Goat in Manchester and on race morning near the Sap House. Parking is in the main lot with roughly a quarter mile walk to the Sap House. Bathrooms are at the visitor center near parking and primitive facilities are near the Sap House. Dogs are not allowed on the race course.
