Course, support and logistics
Both courses run inside Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park and start and finish in Arizona. The majority of miles are on singletrack trail, dirt roads and the Valley Drive. The half marathon follows Sentinel Mesa Trail, Wildcat Trail and Valley Drive, with an aid station near mile 9.95 and a finish at just under 13.5 miles. The 50K visits Three Sisters Aid Station at miles 9.95, 20.95 and 28.75, includes an 11-mile out-and-back to Mitchell Mesa, a 7.80-mile Backcountry segment, and finishes around 32.25 miles.
Aid stations provide fluids, medical support and a variety of nutrition. Drop bags may be left for Three Sisters Aid Station and will be returned to the finish; unclaimed bags are donated after 30 days. The event is cup-less; runners should plan to carry personal hydration. All finishers receive medals; overall and age-group awards are given. Average March temperatures are noted as high 60 and low 37 degrees Fahrenheit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
