Monster of Mazinaw Trail Race 2026
The event is held at Bon Echo Provincial Park in Cloyne, Ontario on September 19, 2026. It offers multiple trail distances and is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
Runners can choose from:
- 43 km ultramarathon
- 30 km trail race
- 10 km trail race
The courses run on a mix of wide groomed trails and technical rocky single track with roots and steep ascents and descents. Large sections of the 30 km and 43 km routes use back‑country trails where aid access is limited; runners may need to travel up to 17 km between aid stations and should be self‑reliant with a hydration pack and adequate food and water. The organizer provides GPX files from the 2025 event; the 2026 route will be similar in route, elevation, and terrain.
Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink, peanut butter and jelly, and sweet and salty snacks. The event is cup‑less; participants must bring a collapsible cup or bottle to fill at aid stations. Race entry is limited to 250 participants. Park admission is not included in the race fee; camping reservations can be made through Ontario Parks and the park offers tent sites, yurts, and roofed accommodations.
Partners include a shoe demo partner and a local nutrition company that supplies gels made from maple syrup, tahini, sea salt, and rowanberry extract. Race registration includes a tee shirt, race bib, finisher's medal for finishers, and aid station provisions. An eight hour completion limit applies. Wildlife in the park includes black bear and other species; animals are unpredictable and should not be approached. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
