About the race
Misty Ridge Trail Run is a one-day trail running event on the misty ridges of Long Tom Pass near Lydenburg, Mpumalanga, held on 6 March 2027 at the Potato Seed Production farm in Sterkspruit.
Distances offered:
- 6.5 km run or hike, pet friendly
- 10 km run or hike, pet friendly
- 21 km run, not pet friendly
- 42 km run, not pet friendly
Each distance lists entry fees and on-day surcharges. The shorter routes have two aid stations, the 21 km has four aid stations, and the 42 km has six aid stations. Approximate elevation gains are provided per route: about +/- 160 m for 6.5 km, +/- 350 m for 10 km, +/- 900 m for 21 km, and +/- 1800 m for 42 km. GPX files and elevation profiles are available.
A mandatory race kit is required for all entrants and includes a space blanket, whistle, 1 liter water and a cell phone. Camping stands are available at the venue for a per person per night fee. Food trucks and a beer tent operate at the venue across the event weekend.
Strict pet rules apply: dogs are allowed only on the 6.5 km and 10 km routes, must remain on leash at all times because of farm animals and roaming baboons, and only participating dogs may be brought to the venue. Non-adherence may incur a R1 000 fine and removal without refund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
