About the race
Misty Ridge Trail Run is a one-day trail running event held on 6 March 2027 at Potato Seed Production on Long Tom Pass near Lydenburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa. The course follows mountain ridges at high altitude on farm terrain.
Distance options offered:
- 6.5 km Run or Hike (pet friendly)
- 10 km Run or Hike (pet friendly)
- 21 km Run (no pets)
- 42 km Run (no pets)
Each distance lists entry fees and on day entry surcharges. Aid stations are placed along the longer routes: two for the shorter distances, four for the 21 km and six for the 42 km. Approximate elevation gain by distance is provided for competitors, with the largest gain around 1800 m for the 42 km.
Participants must carry mandatory race kit including a space blanket, whistle, one liter of water and a cell phone. Dogs are permitted only on the 6.5 km and 10 km routes and must be kept on leash at all times; non adherence can incur a R1 000 fine and possible removal without refund. Only dogs that take part in the trail may be brought to the venue and there are roaming wild animals on the farm.
Camping stands are available at the venue for a per person fee. Food trucks and a beer tent operate around the event and a medal award presentation follows the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
