Miner 49er
The Miner 49er is a trail endurance event in the Mines of Spain near Dubuque, IA held on November 7, 2026. The event offers two distances:
- 50K
- 25K
The course uses a mix of single track, some double track, and prairie trail. Runners pass the Julien Dubuque Monument, Horseshoe Bluff, and views of the Mississippi River. The 25K is an out-and-back with approximately 2200 feet of elevation gain; the 50K is two laps of that course with roughly 4400 feet of gain. The route includes stone steps, stream crossings, and rocky, root-filled sections. Three aid stations are provided and stocked with typical ultra-event nutrition. Because the runs take place in a public park, non-race trail users may be present.
Race administration notes include a cutoff of 5pm for both distances. Registration fees are non-refundable and registrations are not transferable. Requests to change distance must be confirmed with the race director; switching from 50K to 25K requires confirmation before the start, and switching from 25K to 50K requires verification and payment of the difference. Pacers are not allowed. Packet pickup is at the EB Lyons Interpretive Center, 8991 Bellevue Heights Rd, with sessions the day before and the morning of the event.
