Miner 49er : course and logistics
The Miner 49er takes place in the Mines of Spain area near Dubuque, IA. The event offers the following distances:
- 50K
- 25K
The 25K is an out-and-back course with approximately 2,200 feet of elevation gain. The 50K covers the same route twice for about 4,400 feet of gain. The trails include single track, some double track, and prairie trail. Course features include stone steps, stream crossings, rocks, and roots. Views along the route include the Julien Dubuque Monument, Horseshoe Bluff, and the Mississippi River.
Three aid stations are placed on the course and will be stocked with standard ultra event nutrition. The race takes place in a public park, so non-race trail users may be present. Event information notes a race cut off of 5pm for both distances.
Packet pick up is at the EB Lyons Interpretive Center at 8991 Bellevue Heights Rd. Packet pickup times are Friday, November 6 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and Saturday morning from 7:00 am to 7:45 am. There is no same day registration. Pacers are not allowed.
Registration closes on Wednesday, October 28. Race registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Distance changes require confirmation with the race director and may require payment of the difference. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
