Event Overview
Miles in the Maize is an off-road running event held at Colony Acres Family Farm in North Liberty, Iowa. The course takes participants through local scenery, including cornfields and pumpkin patches. The routes are designed to weave around the farm's corn maze and other seasonal landscapes. This event is open to various ages and includes awards for costumes, as well as category awards for overall and age group winners.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 1 Mile (Maize Mile)
- 5K
- 6.4 km (Combined 5K and Maize Mile)
The 1 Mile distance follows a course around the pumpkin patch and is available for walkers and children. The combined event allows runners to participate in both the mile and the 5K for a longer total distance.
Event organizers have established a partnership with local youth programs. Proceeds from the race are donated to organizations that support fitness and community for elementary school students.
Regarding event amenities, event shirts are provided to participants, though they are only guaranteed for those who register by October 25. Online and in-person registration is available on the day of the event until 9:15 AM. Packet pickup is scheduled at a local sporting goods store on Highway 965 in North Liberty or at the farm on the morning of the races.
