Mica Run
The Mica Run is a trail running event held at "The Ark" in Denholm, QC. The race features true single-track trails characterized by a technical terrain with twists, turns, rocks, and roots. To assist with navigation, trails are cleared of leaves and intersections are marked with color-coded flags corresponding to specific distances.
Participants can select from three distance options:
- 3 km: The "Hound Hike" for a shorter trail experience.
- 5 km: The "Sweet Spot" consisting of one full loop.
- 10 km: The "Endurance Junkie" distance, which requires completing two loops of the course.
This event specifically permits and encourages the participation of dogs, both on-leash and off-leash, though bringing a canine companion is not a requirement for entry. There are no aid stations located along the course loops; however, water is available at the central site, which 10 km runners pass through during their transition between loops.
Participants receive a custom engraved wooden plaque as a memento. Instead of performance-based awards, prizes are distributed via a random draw among all attendees. The event concludes with a post-race meal featuring burgers, brownies, and beverages. The funds raised help cover expenses for animal rescues hosted at the site.
