Mica Run for the Rescues : event details
The Mica Run is a dog friendly trail race and fundraiser held at The Ark in Denholm, QC, supporting local rescues. The course is true single track with twisty sections, rocks and roots. Leaves are cleared from the trail before the event and intersections are well marked with coloured flags for each distance.
Dogs are welcome but not required. Participants should expect dogs on the course, both on leash and off, and the event is not recommended for people who are afraid of dogs. The organizer notes the race aims to help cover food and veterinary costs for rescued animals and to provide financial assistance to Les Anges Gardiens des Animaux and similar organizations.
Three distances are offered:
- 3K "Hound Hike" - short relaxed loop
- 5K "Sweet Spot" - one 5 km loop
- 10K "Endurance Junkie" - two laps of the 5 km loop
There are no aid stations on the course due to limited volunteers; water is available at The Ark and is on the 10K route during the second lap. Every racer receives a custom engraved wooden plaque. Prizes provided by Bushtukah Great Outdoor Gear are awarded at random. The post-race meal includes burgers, brownies, ice cream and beer. Location: The Ark, 285 ch. de Farrellton, Denholm, QC J0X 2C0. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
