Mesa Falls Marathon
The Mesa Falls Marathon and its associated races offer a variety of distances through the scenic landscapes of eastern Idaho. The event features multiple race options:
- Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Relay (2 to 8 people)
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run
The marathon and half marathon are point-to-point courses. The marathon begins on Scenic Highway 47 in the Targhee National Forest and concludes in Ashton. This course includes 14 miles of blacktop, 3.2 miles of packed trails along Warm River, and 13.6 miles of pavement. It starts at an elevation of 6,135 feet and is generally downhill, ending at 5,253 feet, though it includes a 300-foot climb between miles 17 and 20. The half marathon begins at the Bear Gulch parking area and joins the main route. The 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile races start and end at the North Fremont High School track.
Participants in the longer distances receive a long-sleeved tech shirt, a finisher's medallion, and bus transportation to the start lines. A unique feature of the event is the huckleberry milkshake provided to marathon and half marathon finishers. Aid stations are positioned approximately every 2 miles, offering water, sports drinks, gels, and fruit. There are no cutoff times, and race staff remain at the finish until the final participant completes the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
