Mesa Falls Marathon
The Mesa Falls event offers a full marathon plus shorter races on a course that finishes in Ashton, Idaho. The marathon and half marathon are point to point and begin on Scenic Highway 47 in the Targhee National Forest. Shorter races start and end at the North Fremont High School track.
Entry fees are published for each race and include a long sleeved tech shirt, a finisher’s medallion, bus transportation to the start, and a huckleberry milkshake for finishers. The marathon course uses mixed running surfaces: the first 14 miles on blacktop, 3.2 miles of packed trail along Warm River, and 13.6 miles of pavement. The course starts near 6,135 ft elevation and finishes near 5,253 ft, an overall elevation loss of about 882 ft. One uphill section rises roughly 300 ft between mile 17.1 and mile 19.9.
Aid stations are placed about every two miles and provide gels, bars, sports drinks, water, fruit, and sports lubricant. Restroom facilities and port a potties are located at multiple points on the course and at the finish. Bus loading and vehicle parking are at North Fremont High School. Dogs are not allowed on the course. The event has age divisions in ten year groups and awards overall and age group placings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
