Merrill Ranch Triathlon
The Merrill Ranch Triathlon is a multisport event held at Merrill Ranch in Florence, AZ. The program includes adult and youth triathlons, aquabike and duathlon divisions, plus an adult relay option. The event uses a pool for the swim legs and looped bike and run courses around the Anthem community park and nearby roads.
Distances:
- Adult triathlon and relay: 400 m swim, 12 miles bike, 3 miles run
- Aquabike: 400 m pool swim, 12 miles bike
- Duathlon: 3 miles run, 12 miles bike, 1.5 miles run
- Youth triathlon: 200 m swim, 6 miles bike, 1.5 miles run
Swim procedures use lane swimming with athletes started individually; adult starts use 10 second gaps and youth starts use 15 second gaps. The adult swim pattern crosses through eight lanes; athletes follow posted estimated swim times for seeding. The adult bike is four loops and the youth bike is two loops; helmets are required. The adult run is two loops of Anthem Community Park and the youth run is one loop.
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and requires participants to hold an annual membership or purchase a one day membership. Chip timing is used; chips are worn on the left ankle, must be worn from start to finish, and must be returned. Racer amenities include a race long sleeve hoodie, post race refreshments, finisher medals, and awards by category and age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
