About the race
Meiringspoort 21.1km & 12.5km is an annual road running event held with finish venue at NG Church, De Rust. The event includes two official distances:
- 21.1 km half marathon.
- 12.5 km mini run.
For 2026 the course was changed because of severe flood damage in Meiringspoort. The 2026 routes run as circular loops through the Middelplaas area on gravel and sections of tar; the half marathon includes about 10 km of tar. Route markers are placed every 1 km and water stations are available approximately every 3 km. Cut-off times are set at 3.5 hours for the 21.1 km and 2.5 hours for the 12.5 km.
Race rules and safety instructions require participants to stay on the right side of the road, wear race numbers visibly in front for timing chips, display age tags, and prohibit earphones, pets, strollers, alcohol, bicycles, and seconding from vehicles. Entries have specific opening windows (including loyalty, remainder, and charity entry phases) and a marketplace exists for selling or buying entries via the Entry Ninja platform. Organisers note recent flood damage and advise caution for open holes and poor road surfaces; drivers are asked not to park along the road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
