Meiringspoort 21.1km & 12.5km
Meiringspoort 21.1km and 12.5km take place on 10 October 2026 with the finish venue at the Church Grounds in De Rust. The 2026 event uses an alternative route because of serious flood damage in Meiringspoort and the surrounding area; the route and profile remain provisional until fully measured.
Distances:
- 21.1 km half marathon with a circular route through the Middelplaas area on gravel and about 10 km tar.
- 12.5 km mini run in the Middelplaas area on gravel with about 3 km tar to the same finish venue.
Provisional route details note start elevations and terrain changes. The 21.1 km description shows an early descent from about 518 m, mixed gravel sections, a gentle climb around 14 to 18 km to roughly 500 m, and a final 3 km on tar into town finishing at about 470 m. The 12.5 km route is slightly undulating, starting near 380 m, rising to about 500 m with the last section on tar into the same finish.
Event logistics include kilometre markers every 1 km, water stations about every 3 km, and cut off times of 2.5 hours for 12.5 km and 3.5 hours for 21.1 km. Safety measures require staying on the right side of the road, visible race numbers worn in front, age tags visible, and prohibit earphones, pets, strollers, bicycles, alcohol, and seconding from vehicles. Organisers warn of open holes and poor road surfaces due to flood damage and request that vehicles not park along the road. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
