About the race
Meiringspoort 21.1km & 12.5km is an organised road and gravel running event held on 10 October 2026 with the finish at NG Church, De Rust. The programme includes two official distances:
- 21.1 km half marathon on a circular route through the Middelplaas area, on gravel and about 10 km tar.
- 12.5 km route on gravel with approximately 3 km tar to the same finish venue.
The 2026 routes are altered because of serious flood damage in Meiringspoort and surrounds; organisers provide a provisional route description and elevation profile. The provisional profiles note start and high points: the 12.5 km starts near 380 m and rises to about 500 m before finishing at 470 m; the 21.1 km starts near 518 m, descends then climbs toward 500 m before the final descent to 470 m. Route markers appear every 1 km and water stations are available approximately every 3 km. Cut-off times are 2.5 hours for the 12.5 km and 3.5 hours for the 21.1 km. Runners must wear race numbers visibly in front for the timing chip; temporary licence numbers go on the back. Safety rules include staying on the right side of the road and no earphones, pets, strollers, alcohol, or bicycles.
