McGinn Memorial Cross Country Challenge
The meet is held on Reservoir Hill in downtown Pagosa Springs and uses a course made up of hilly forest roads and single-track trails. Separate races are organized for middle school and high school athletes, with unlimited entries allowed in each race.
Distances:
- Middle school races: 3 kilometers
- High school races: 5 kilometers
Ribbons are awarded to the top 10 finishers in each race. High school team awards are given to the first and second place teams, with scoring based on the top five scorers and displacement to seven places. Professional timing is provided by Rocky Mountain Timing.
An entry fee structure is noted as $150 per school or $15 per athlete for smaller schools. Parking and access use the dirt road next to the post office on Hot Springs Boulevard; buses proceed up the dirt road past the gate to the top of Reservoir Hill, and spectators are asked to park above the gate in the first open field. Volunteers assist with parking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
