Mary Lou Triathlon at Deyo Reservoir
The Mary Lou Triathlon takes place on June 13, 2027 at Deyo Reservoir outside Weippe, Idaho. The event was previously called the Bald Mountain Triathlon, moved to Deyo Reservoir for 2021 and 2022, and was renamed in 2023 in honor of the Deyo Family matriarch.
The course features a water start from a sandy beach, a mountain bike leg on gravel roads and a forest trail, and a trail run around the reservoir. There is a single transition area for all legs.
Distances:
- 300 yards swim from the sandy beach
- ~13 miles mountain bike on Schmidt Mill Road, 3-mile Road and Fidler Road with a forested trail return
- 2.2 mile run on the trail around the reservoir
Logistics include packet pickup at the Schmidt House across from Deyo Reservoir on the day before the race and at Deyo Reservoir on race morning. Athlete briefings are scheduled at the Schmidt House and at Deyo Reservoir. Parking is limited and camping is available near the reservoir.
Safety and rules note that roads are not closed, traffic control will be at major intersections and participants must yield to traffic. The event is not USA Triathlon sanctioned but will follow USAT rules. Wetsuits are discouraged for the short swim but are allowed if water temperature is below 84 degrees. Lifejackets are not allowed and helmets are required for the bike. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
