About the race
The Maratona da Europa in Aveiro is a road running event held on 24 and 25 April 2027 with multiple race distances and a certified, predominantly flat course. The event presents formats over two consecutive days that combine short and long distances into multi-race challenges.
Distances offered include:
- 42K
- 21K
- 10K
- 5K
One competition format, called the Challenge of the Canals, pairs a 10K on the first day with either a 21K or a 42K on the second day; finishers receive separate medals for each day and an additional medal for completing the combined challenge.
The course is internationally certified and carries a World Athletics road race label, which allows participants to score for the global ranking. The route runs through Aveiro and nearby coastal areas, and the event highlights local waterways and regional scenery. The municipality of Aveiro is a coorganizer and institutional partner. The race publishes official regulations and previous results, and provides information about accommodation and logistics through an event travel partner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
