About the race
The Maratona da Europa in Aveiro is a multi-distance road running event held over two days, on 24 and 25 April 2027. The race was created in 2019 and its marathon course is internationally certified. Since 2023 the event holds a World Athletics Road Race Label and appears in the World Athletics ranking.
The routes are described as flat and fast and allow athletes to score for the world ranking. The event is organised in the city of Aveiro and along nearby coastal and ria areas, with routes that highlight canals and the Ria de Aveiro.
There are single-race options and a two-day combined challenge called the Desafio dos Canais, which pairs a 10K on the first day with either a 21K or a 42K on the second day. Finishers receive medals and an official event T-shirt is available.
