Marathon des Châteaux du Médoc
The Marathon des Châteaux du Médoc is a long-distance running event held in the Pauillac region. The event is characterized by its festive atmosphere, where participants are encouraged to dress in costumes according to an annual theme. For the 40th edition, the chosen theme is "The 80s".
The marathon course features extensive support and entertainment for runners. There are 22 refreshment points and approximately 20 "oeno-sporting" stations offering moderate wine tastings from prestigious estates. Additionally, the route includes 55 different animations and tasting points serving local specialties such as oysters, steak, cheese, grapes, and ice cream.
The event program spans several days:
- Marathon (approx. 42.2 km)
- Recovery Walk (Sunday, approximately 9 km)
A Marathon Village is located at the COSEC in Pauillac for bib collection and exhibitor displays. Additional activities include a publicity caravan before the race, an awards ceremony on the quays, and evening entertainment with music and fireworks. Official bus transfers are available between Bordeaux and Pauillac upon reservation. The Sunday recovery walk is limited to 3,000 participants and concludes with a meal under a marquee at Château Beychevelle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
