About the race
The Marathon des Châteaux du Médoc is a multi-day running event held in early September 2026 around Pauillac and nearby châteaux. The programme spans a weekend with activities in town, at the Village Marathon and at several châteaux. On the pre-race day there is bib collection and the Village Marathon at the COSEC de Pauillac, with official bus transfers between Bordeaux and Pauillac available by reservation. The traditional Mille-Pâtes dinner at Château Beychevelle is reserved for 1,450 guests and requires the access bracelet distributed at bib collection.
Additional evening events take place in nearby communes. Race day features a themed costume year for 2026: "The 1980s". The course includes 22 refreshment points, about twenty oeno-sport tests (moderated wine tastings) and 55 animation and tasting stops offering items such as oysters, entrecôte, cheese, grapes and ice cream. A publicity caravan precedes the race and there are animations on the quays and in the town.
Prize giving is scheduled on the quays in the afternoon, weather permitting. The village remains active with food and drink options, a marathon shop and organised tastings. The weekend closes with a recovery walk on the commune of Saint Julien Beychevelle limited to 3,000 participants (fee 8€) and a reserved meal under a marquee at Château Beychevelle, accessible with the event bracelet.
