About the race
The Malad Valley Marathon is a multi-distance running event held in Malad City, Idaho, on the second Saturday of September (race day September 12, 2026). Start and finish are at Malad City Park, 20 S 100 W, Malad City, ID 83252. The event takes place in a high mountain valley framed by the Bannock Range and the Sublett Range at roughly 4,500 feet elevation.

The half marathon and full marathon courses are about half hard-packed dirt and half asphalt. The 5K and 10K run entirely on paved farm roads. Aid stations are placed roughly every 2 to 3 miles and are stocked with GU and water; first-aid kits are available on course. Chip timing is provided for the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon. Finishers of the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon receive a finisher medal. A race shirt is included with registration when payment is completed by the shirt cutoff date of August 29, 2026.
