Malad Valley Marathon
The Malad Valley Marathon is a multi-distance running event in Malad City, Idaho. All races start and finish at Malad City Park (20 S 100 W). The course rolls north along the valley floor and is framed by the Bannock Range to the east and the Sublett Range to the west. About half of every mile is on hard packed dirt, which the organizers note can be gentler on knees, hips, and feet than continuous pavement.
Aid stations are placed roughly every 2 to 3 miles and are stocked with GU and water; first-aid kits are available along the course. Chip timing is provided for the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon. Race entry includes a finisher medal and a technical race shirt.
The event takes place in a high mountain valley near the Idaho-Utah border; the town of Malad City was founded in 1864. The race is scheduled for the second Saturday of September and the inaugural edition is in 2026.
