Mad Trapper Relentless - The Ark, Denholm QC
Mad Trapper Relentless is an autumn trail and ultra trail race held at The Ark in Denholm, Quebec, just north of Ottawa in the Gatineau Hills. The event uses true singletrack with sustained elevation on a privately maintained 164 acre trail network. Multiple distances are offered, from short family loops to a full ultra distance.
Distances available:
- 3K family loop
- 5K singletrack loop
- 10K singletrack 10.5 km loop
- 21K two laps of the 10.5 km loop
- 30K 18 km gravel prologue plus one singletrack lap
- 50K 18 km gravel prologue plus three singletrack laps
The 21K, 30K, and 50K distances are recognized on the UTMB Index. Course markings are deliberate: intersections are flagged, leaves are cleared from the race route, and different coloured flags mark each distance; organizers provide orientation for runners with colour blindness before the start.
There are no aid stations out in the woods. A main aid table at The Ark supplies water, a homemade electrolyte drink, and snacks; 21K and 30K runners pass this after their first loop, and 50K runners pass at approximately 18K, 29K, and 40K. Lodge-based hospitality and a post-race meal are available at the venue. No cutoff times apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
