Event Overview
The fourth edition of the Mad Max Marathon Running Festival takes place in July 2026 in the outback heritage town of Broken Hill, New South Wales. The event is part of a series of regional Australian running festivals and aims to promote fitness while supporting the Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Corporation. The festival caters to participants ranging from elite marathon runners to recreational walkers.
Course Information
The festival features a flat course layout designed for multiple distances. All races start and finish at the Broken Hill Racecourse. The routes incorporate the local parkrun loop, flat dirt tracks alongside Racecourse Road, and sections of the Silver City Highway. The 10 km, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon events conclude with a final 2 km lap of the racecourse. The Full Marathon consists of two laps of the Half Marathon course.

Location and Logistics
The event hub is located at the Broken Hill Racecourse on Racecourse Road. Facilities at the site include the Gary Radford Pavilion and camping areas for participants. Additional accommodation and local landmarks are available in the city of Broken Hill and nearby Silverton. Water stations on the course are managed by the Broken Hill Rotary Club.
