About the race
Lord of the Hill is a Last Person Standing running event in Monroe, WA, held on October 17, 2026 at Lord Hill Regional Park. The format uses repeated laps on a short loop with progressively shorter allowed lap times until only one competitor remains.
The course is a 0.8 mile loop with 233 ft of elevation gain concentrated in a single steep climb. Laps begin with an 18 minute time limit, then decrease by 60 seconds each lap until a 15 minute lap; after that the lap limit shortens by 30 seconds each round. The last racer to complete a full lap within the set lap time is declared the winner. If no one completes the final lap in time, the fastest time from the previous lap determines the victor.
Organizers provide a custom canvas banner for each participant; these banners are used to mark who remains in the running. A brief coronation ceremony awards the winner a custom 3D printed crown. Water stations are placed at the start line and at the top of the hill. The event follows a medieval theme and costumes are encouraged.
Parking is available in the South Lot of Lord Hill Regional Park. Trails in the park are shared with other hikers, bikers and possibly horses. Registration opens August 8, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
