Lonesome Pine 24
Lonesome Pine 24 is a 24-hour timed trail event on March 27, 2027 in Long Grove, IA, organized by Sun Trail Running at Scott County Park. The start and finish are located at the Whispering Pines Shelter.
The main course is a 3.65 mile loop with about 350 ft of elevation gain. The route is mostly wooded double track dirt trails with just under a mile of asphalt or park road. Much of the course is non-technical and flowing with some small rolling hills. The layout is a short lollipop loop that provides frequent access to the start/finish and aid station. For the final hour of the event runners move to a short 1/3 mile loop to allow for maximum mileage in the timed window.
There is one fully stocked aid station at the start/finish pavilion. Dropbags may be stored inside the pavilion and there is space outside for crews. Pacers are permitted after the 12 hour mark; only one pacer may accompany a runner at a time, pacers must be on foot, and bicycles are not allowed.
Awards include a special award for anyone completing 50k or more, overall winner awards, and a custom belt buckle for those reaching 100 miles. Registration is online only; the event does not permit refunds or bib transfers and maintains a waitlist if capacity is reached. Camping at the park is available on a first come, first serve basis.
