About the race
The annual LLAA Community Support 5K-ish run/walk takes place around Lake Lucerne in Crandon, Wisconsin, with the course starting near the north end of the lake and finishing at the Boat Landing. The distance is approximately 3.08 miles.
The event benefits Crandon Area Rescue, a non-profit squad that serves about 435 square miles and operates four ambulances with roughly 20 active responders. There is no required registration fee; a suggested donation of $35 per racer is requested, and alternate donation amounts are accepted. Registration and packet pick-up occur at the LLAA Club House prior to the race.
Transportation is arranged to the starting area, and return rides are available after the event. Race swag for participants is provided in the form of a bag.
A recent edition of the event raised more than $10,500 in direct donations and inspired over $5,000 in additional community contributions. That edition featured over 90 racers, 18 volunteers, and eight sponsors, with support from local organizations such as Forest County Potawatomi, Schaefers IGA, and others.
