Lisa Shampoe 5K
The 19th annual Lisa Shampoe 5K is a community run/walk taking place on August 15, 2026 at the Mission Hike and Bike Trial in Mission, Texas. The course is an out-and-back on the paved path and is listed as approximately 3 miles. The event carries a registration fee of $25.
Proceeds from the event will go to MD Anderson and will be matched dollar for dollar by IBC Bank. Over the previous 18 years, Lisa Shampoe events have raised and donated more than $100,000 to various cancer-fighting organizations and individuals. The Lisa Shampoe Cancer Care Foundation states its purpose as raising cancer awareness in the local community, providing financial support for treatment and research, and offering financial assistance for non-medical home care services including respite care.
All registered participants receive a custom participation medal. Individual awards are given to first through third place male and female finishers in each age category: 9 and under; 10–19; 20–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60–69; and 70 and over. Awards are also given to the overall male and female 5K winners. A raffle drawing provided by Chic Fil A will enter all pre-registered participants for a one-year meal prize. Packet pick-up is scheduled at Kayala Coffee Co., 2138 E Griffin Parkway, Mission, TX, with the pick-up date to be determined. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
