Limburg Wine Trail
The Limburg Wine Trail is a trailrun and wine tasting event at Landgoed Kasteelhoeve Cartils in Gulpen-Wittem on 3 October 2026. The event combines offroad running through vineyards, forests and meadows with wine tastings and food at the finish on the estate. The start and finish area is on the 33 hectare Kasteelhoeve Cartils estate, which includes varied nature such as botanical meadows, hedges and small woods. There is a large parking area about 200 m from the venue.
Routes are clearly marked with large fluorescent orange signs and GPX files are provided in advance. The courses are offroad and include positive elevation gain. Distances and elevation gain:
- 10 km, 220 m D+
- 15 km, 300 m D+
- 20 km, 370 m D+ (UTMB Index 20K)
Each finisher receives a souvenir wineglass to use for the wine tastings at the finish; a local apple juice is offered as a non alcoholic alternative. Food and music are present on the event terrain. Aid stations provide water, sports drink, fruit and snacks; the event uses cup free stations so participants must bring or order a collapsible cup. Limited bag storage is available; there are no changing rooms or showers on site. Medical support is provided by Emergency Team Limburg. Podium places are awarded for the first three men and women on each distance. The event supports KiKa for pediatric cancer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
