About the race
The Leipzig Marathon is an annual spring running event held in Leipzig. Its historical roots date back to 1897, and the event in its current form has existed since 1977. The meeting attracts thousands of runners and hundreds of inline skaters and is described as one of the largest mass sport events in the region.

The marathon and other race courses were recently remeasured and certified by the German Athletics Association (DLV). The routes comply with national and international requirements and are eligible for ranking lists, records, and qualification purposes. Course remeasurement was carried out by two national course measurers.

The event is organized with support from local partners and sponsors and includes dedicated visitor and citizen information such as traffic and road closure notices.
