Lead King Loop 25K, 8 Mile, Kids 2.5K : Marble, Colorado
The Lead King Loop event takes place on September 13, 2026, in Marble, Colorado. The program includes the following distances:
- 25K Lead King Loop
- 8 Mile Quarry Climb
- Kids 2.5K Race
The 25K is a dirt road course that starts at Thompson Park, rounds Beaver Lake, and climbs about 2,900 vertical feet over roughly four miles into Lead King Basin. The route travels at approximately 10,000 feet, passes waterfalls and the historic Town of Crystal, goes by the 110 year old Crystal Mill, climbs out of the river valley, and descends Daniel's Hill back to the finish.
The Quarry Climb is an eight mile out and back that begins and ends at Marble Children’s Park, follows roads through town and Millsite Park, and runs up and down Quarry Road. The kids 2.5K starts and finishes at Thompson Park and loops around Marble.
Race entries include a Slow Groovin BBQ lunch, a cold beer, a custom event shirt, and a custom finisher medal. Typical mobile phone service is very limited at and around Thompson Park. Advance packet pickup is scheduled the day before in Carbondale at Independence Run and Hike. Proceeds benefit Marble Charter School and support instructional supplies.
