About the race
The Lead King Loop event on September 13, 2026 is a trail running and hiking day in Marble, Colorado, in the Elk Mountains. The main route is the 25K Lead King Loop, which passes through Lead King Basin, by the Crystal Mill, and through the historic Town of Crystal. An alternate option is the Quarry Climb, an 8 mile out-and-back route along the Yule Marble Quarry Road that runs near the Maroon Bells-Snomass and Ragged Wilderness areas.
A family-friendly kids race circles Beaver Lake with a 2.5K Kids Fun Run. After the courses, the event provides a homemade Slow Groovin' BBQ lunch, a cold beer for those 21 and older, and an awards ceremony. All participants receive a custom event shirt, a finisher medal, and a post-race meal.
The event is staffed entirely by volunteers and all proceeds benefit the Marble Charter School. The Lead King Loop is a member of the Colorado Mountain Half Marathon+ Series.
