20th Annual Laveen Turkey Trot
The Laveen Turkey Trot is a community event held on Thanksgiving Day at the Laveen Area Conveyance Channel (LACC). This holiday tradition offers participants the choice of three different distances along a professionally timed, flat looping course. The route provides views of the Sierra Estrella Mountain ranges and the natural scenery of the Laveen area.
Available distances include:
- 10 km Timed Run and Walk
- 5 km Timed Run and Walk
- 1 mile Untimed Fun Run
The 5 km and 10 km races are chip-timed, and awards are presented to top finishers. For the 5 km distance, a corral system is used to manage the start. The event is open to participants of various ages, and leashed pets are permitted on the course. Participants are encouraged to wear festive holiday costumes.
Race materials, such as the event shirt and finisher medal, can be collected during pre-packet pickup on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the race at a local business in Laveen Village. There is no race-day registration or packet pickup available. Alternatively, participants may choose to have their packets mailed for an additional fee if they register by the mid-November deadline. Parking is designated at nearby retail locations, including Michael's and TJ Maxx, with additional space in an adjacent shopping center. Proceeds from the event support the Laveen Community Council.
