LASAA organizes athletic events for members who are Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department employees and other law enforcement personnel, with the stated aims of promoting health, fitness, and camaraderie. The Mug Run series began in 1993 with primarily law enforcement participants and an early average field of about 10 runners. The series later opened to the general public and has grown to attract over 300 runners.
