Font Vella Lanzarote International Marathon
The Lanzarote International Marathon takes place in December on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. The event is held along the eastern coastline of the island, typically under sunny skies with an average air temperature of approximately 21ºC. The course offers a scenic route through several coastal locations.
Participants can choose from various distances to suit different experience levels:
- 42 km marathon starting in Costa Teguise
- 21 km half marathon starting in Puerto del Carmen
- 10 km race starting in Arrecife
- 5 km Santa Claus Race
- Wheelers 21 km race
- Buddy's Marathon children's categories
The event includes an Expo Area where runners can collect their race numbers, browse shops, and access information. On the main race day, services such as a cloakroom and shuttle buses to the different starting lines are provided for participants. Specifically, shuttle buses run from Costa Teguise to the starting points in Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife.
In the days leading up to the marathon, the program features activities such as Zumba warm-ups and mascot races. The finish line is located in Costa Teguise, where the event concludes with live music and an awards ceremony. The organization emphasizes sustainability and encourages the use of the local intercity bus system to reduce the carbon footprint of the event.
