Lake Macbride Trail Races - July 18, 2026
The Lake Macbride Trail Races take place at Lake Macbride State Park in Solon, IA, using trails that largely avoid major roads. The event uses one- or two-loop formats around the lake with the start and finish at the Macbride Spillway parking area.
Distances
- 50K
- 25K
The course begins on crushed limestone trails near the north shore, includes an out-and-back on the North Shore trail, then moves to more technical North Snowmobile trails before returning to the start/finish. Runners cross the dam and Spillway to complete a South Loop that features single track, prairie sections, and hilly terrain. The 50K distance consists of a second loop of the same course.
Logistics note several aid stations on each loop, including Opie Road, Start/Finish, University Trails, and Anglers Point. Packet pickup is offered the night before at Big Grove Brewery in Iowa City and on race morning at the Spillway parking area. Parking is available at the Coralville Res Boat Ramp parking lot; the smaller Spillway lot is not for race day parking.
The event is capped at 175 combined entrants in its first year. Registration fees and included items are listed for each distance; T-shirt availability is limited for late registrations. The event offers awards for top overall finishers by gender and for top three in specified age groups. Deferral options are available with conditions; there are no bib transfers or refunds.
