Lake Macbride Trail Races, Solon, IA
The Lake Macbride Trail Races are a trail running event held at Lake Macbride State Park on July 18, 2026. The route starts and finishes at the Macbride Spillway parking area and is planned to remain almost entirely on trails, avoiding major road or highway sections.
The course uses two main loops. The North Loop follows crushed limestone trails along the lake, includes an out-and-back on the North Shore trail, and moves onto more technical North Snowmobile trails before returning to the start/finish aid station. Runners then cross the dam and spillway to run the South Loop, which features single track, prairie sections, and notable hills. The final aid station is at the Anglers Point lot before returning across the spillway. Runners in the 50K complete this sequence twice.
There will be four aid stations per loop stocked with hydration and nutrition. Packet pickup is offered the night before at Big Grove Brewery in Iowa City and again at the spillway parking area on race morning. Parking is available at the Coralville Res Boat Ramp parking lot, a short walk to the start/finish; the smaller spillway lot will not be used for parking.
The event is capped at 175 combined runners. Registration includes a T-shirt, a commemorative bib, and access to aid stations. Awards are given to the top female and male in each distance and to the top three female and male in each listed age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
