Lake Macbride Trail Races - Solon, IA (July 18, 2026)
The Lake Macbride Trail Races are trail events held at Lake Macbride State Park with courses that remain almost entirely on trails and avoid major road sections. The event follows one or two looped routes centered on the Macbride Spillway parking area, with 50K runners completing a second loop.
Distances
- 50K
- 25K
The course begins with crushed limestone trails along the lake, moves to the North Shore out-and-back where the first aid station is located, and then becomes more technical on snowmobile trails. Runners cross the dam and Spillway to reach a South loop that includes single track, prairie terrain, and hills. Aid stations are provided on each loop and are stocked with hydration and nutrition. Named stations include Opie Road, Start/Finish, University Trails, and Anglers Point.
Logistics note that packet pickup is offered both the night before at Big Grove Brewery and on race morning at the Spillway parking area. Parking is available at the Coralville Res Boat Ramp with a short walk to the start area; the smaller Spillway lot is not available for parking.
The field is capped at 175 combined runners in year one. Entry fees list the 50K at $80 and the 25K at $55. Registration opens February 14, 2026 and registration may close earlier if the event fills. Deferrals are allowed until June 19 and there are no bib transfers or refunds. Awards are given to the top male and female in each distance and to the top three in specified age groups.
