Event Information
The Lake Macbride Trail Races are held at Lake Macbride State Park, the largest state park in Iowa. The event takes place on a Saturday in July.
Distances
The event offers two trail running distances:
- 50K
- 25K
Course Details
The course is a loop that starts and finishes at the Macbride Spillway parking area. It utilizes trails within the state park. The route consists of two main sections:
- The North Loop features crushed limestone trails along the lake and technical snowmobile trails.
- The South Loop includes single-track trails, prairie sections, and hills. Runners on the 50K distance complete two loops of the full course.
Registration and Logistics
Registration opens on Valentine's Day (February 14). The total number of participants for both distances is capped. A waitlist is available if the event fills. Packet pickup is available the Friday evening before the race at Big Grove Brewery in Iowa City and on race morning at the start area. Parking is available at the Coralville Res Boat Ramp, a short walk from the start.
Other Details
The event includes aid stations along the course. A post-race party is held on race day. Top finishers in each distance and age group receive awards. Registered participants receive a t-shirt and commemorative bib, though shirt availability for late registrations is not guaranteed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
